Why Did God Choose Mary?
- Edward C. Miller
- It is possible to argue, from a theological point of view, that the reason God selected Mary to be the mother of Jesus is due to the fact that Mary herself was conceived without sin.
- This indicates that she was the only woman who might have been a suitable mother for God in the flesh.
- In the womb of her mother, Mary had a miracle conception in the sense that she did not inherit her mother’s sinful nature.
Mary, the Virgin, was never guilty of sinning. Because of this, she was selected to be the mother of The God Who Is All-Powerful, Jesus Christ. God’s supernatural mercy allowed the Blessed Virgin Mary to be born without the stain of original sin. Only she, next to Jesus, is without any trace of sin in her life.

Was Mary a godly woman?
There is no doubt that Mary was a devout woman, but that is not the point. Not her piety, but her luxury was the focus of Gabriel’s attention. She had ″found favor with God″ (verse 30), but it speaks more to the kindness of God than it does to Mary’s own virtue. She was the receiver of God’s grace, which is His favor that is unmerited and unearned.
What are the qualities of Mary?
Mary had the ability to decline this position; rather, she fulfilled it in every way that God had designed for her to do so. Mary was an unremarkable young woman with no special abilities. She was neither renowned nor wealthy. She did, however, develop the attributes that God was seeking for in a woman to bear his Son: bravery, willingness, love for God, and purity in her heart.
Why did God choose to fashion Mary?
God purposefully created his chosen people to live in his chosen place so that he may have his Son among them. And from these, with the utmost importance placed on them, he fashioned Mary. It wasn’t because he had to that he fashioned her! God might have been incarnate from a sinner if he had so chosen, but instead he fashioned Mary to be the mother of his son:

Why Mary is the Mother of God?
According to God’s humanity, he intended Mary to give birth to his son and be his son’s mother. She does not give birth to his heavenly nature within her womb. This is something that existed before the earth was created, and it enters her womb along with the force of the Holy Spirit in order to combine into the divine-human person of Jesus Christ.
Why do Catholics pray to Mary?
Catholics do not pray to Mary in the same way that they would pray to God. To pray to Mary is to remember the main truths of our faith (the Incarnation and Redemption through Christ in the Rosary), to praise God for the amazing things he has done in and through one of his creations (Hail Mary), and to ask Mary to intercede on our behalf (second half of the Hail Mary).
What does Mary symbolize?
Mary is held in high regard because of her kind nature and role as a mother. She is revered by all Christians, but especially by Roman Catholics, who have a deep faith in her compassion and in her ability to pray directly to God on their behalf. The theory of Mary’s immaculate conception is another teaching that is taught by the Roman Catholic Church.
Does the Bible say to worship Mary?
