SPECIAL RELIGIOUS DEVELOPMENT

SPRED is a program of faith formation designed to meet the spiritual needs of persons with intellectual, developmental and/or learning disabilities.

SPRED's initial formation is a small adult faith community. It's in this environment SPRED catechists experience their own catechesis and deepening of faith, with each other. The spiritual relationships created in the adult faith community become a living model of faith then shared with our Friends. In SPRED, the term Friends is used in reference to a child, teen or adult participant with special needs.

Through the experience of friendship in one-to-one relationships, our Friends discover a place where they belong and can enjoy meaningful relationships, which help them realize their own giftedness and dignity.

Through SPRED's community of faith, our Friends are better able to celebrate the sacraments and enter into worship experiences of the whole Church.
