History of Religious Orders at

Our Lady of Victory Elementary School

1910-1999

The School Sisters of Saint Francis from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, established Our Lady of Victory School in 1910. Their call to serve the people of the northwest area of Chicago began as a simple mission and made for a solid foundation for the school and parish. Here at Our Lady of Victory, together with the priests and people of the parish, the Sisters have helped form Christian men and women through Catholic Education.

Beginning with a faculty of six Sisters in 1910, the school enrollment reached its peak in 1950 with a faculty of twenty-four School Sisters and a student body nearing one thousand.

1999-2004

From 1999 to 2004, the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia from Nashville, Tennessee, assumed care of the school, continuing the tradition of dedication to youth that was established by the Franciscan Sisters nearly 100 years ago.

Since 2004, members of the lay community have once again served as principals.

Rooted in Jesus Christ, Our Lady of Victory Elementary School strives to form each child so that he or she may live fully the Gospel of Christ in the world.  Academic instruction permeated with the truth of prepares the whole child to serve the Church and civil society with integrity and joy.
