Altar Servers
Serving during the sacrifice of the Mass is an activity eligible to
both males and females at OLV.
Art Club is open to students in
grades 4-8. The Art teacher, Mrs. Contreras, plans and oversees various
art media projects displayed throughout the school. Some of the finest
works of student artists are on sale during the annual Christmas Bazaar. Funds from the sale pay for the
Art program materials. The club meets on alternate Mondays (2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) and is limited to 30 students on a first come, first served order.
Band is available to students in
grades 4-8. The Band teacher, Mr. Richard Trumbo, has two
levels: Beginning Band and the OLV Band. Practice for the
Band is held on Monday and Friday mornings and Friday
afternoons. Sectionals and individual classes are held during
the day on Mondays and Fridays.
Basketball
is available to all boys and girls in grades 4-8. It is sponsored by the Holy Name Society.
Participation in the basketball program is FREE to students,
with parents required to participate in various duties.
Board Game Club is open to
students grades K-3. At least once a month, students meet to
learn and play all types of board games, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Cheerleading and Pep Squad
are available throughout the year.
Children's Choir rehearses every Tuesday
afternoon after school and also performs every Wednesday morning at
the 8:30 a.m. All School Mass.
Cross Country / Track is available to
students in grades 3-8. The athletes meet after school and compete with other schools
in the area.
Exercise Club is available to students in grades
K-3. The club meets Tuesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., with
exercise either in the gym working out together or taking a walk
around Wilson Park (weather permitting).
Guitar is offered by Sister Mary Kevin. Classes are
taught during the day on Wednesdays and available to students in grades 3-8.
Sessions are $5.00 per private 1/2 hour session. Students supply their own guitar.
Mass Krew is a group of Junior High students who
attend Mass together on Tuesday mornings at 6:45 a.m., and then
gather in the Parish Hall for breakfast. As a group the
students pray for each other, and support and encourage one another,
to make good and holy choices in their daily lives.
Piano is offered to students in
grades 3-8. Classes are offered by Mrs. Eileen O'Neill after school and
also during school, when time permits. The cost is $15 per 1/2 hour private session.
Rosary Club meets every Thursday after school. Students gather to pray the
rosary and share their faith.
Safety Patrol members proudly protect our OLV
students before and after school, every school day.
Student Council is in the process of
re-organizing and re-defining itself. Elections for the
following year's officers will be held in May. Class
representatives will be selected in September.
Suzuki Violin is available for anyone
to learn, but typically attempted by our youngest students, PreK through
grade 3.
Volleyball is available to all boys and girls in grades 4-8.
It is sponsored by the Holy Name Society, Participation in the
program is FREE to students, with parents required to participate in various duties.
Yearbook This committee of
volunteer students meets regularly to design and construct the
yearbook as well as the annual memory book of the eighth grade. |
